Beaches & Bays
There are sixty three different types of beaches and bays on Rottnest island the Basin is one of the the highest rated beaches as well as Pinky’s. Pinky’s is located right beneath under the point light house.
Marine life:
There is four hundred different types of species of fish and twenty species of coral within the Marine Reserve.
There beaches include dhufish, baldchin groper and salmon.
There is New Zealand Fur Seals, you can go swim and play with them. You can see them from the New Cathedral Rocks viewing platform. You can ride to the island bus.
The bottlenose dolphins are also residents they are feeding and playing in North Salmon bay.
Rottnest has a tropical fish record with about 135 species of tropical fish. Even sometimes green turtles come to rottnest. They also have whales
Marine reserve:
Spearfishing, gadgies ,speargun and net fishing is prohibited within the Rottnest marine reserve. All reif animals except abalone,cuttlefish,squid and octopus are protected in waters around the island.
